“I think that improving the profits of our member companies is the way for the business association to gain strength. That’s why we’ve been working diligently for our member companies, such as reducing the joint sales commission for two years in a row and converting profits into equity capital.” The Korea Transformer Business Association decided to lower the joint sales commission by 0.2%p this year, following its previous decision to lower it to 0.9%. However, it added a clause stating that the commission can be raised in the future if the association’s profits worsen. Choi Seong-kyu, chairman of the Korea Transformer Business Association (CEO of Elpowertech), said, “We decided to lower the commission in order to help our member companies with their management difficulties even a little bit,” and added, “We are also planning various programs such as attending overseas exhibitions and visiting the factories of advanced global companies.” “Fortunately, this year, the volume of KEPCO orders was large, so sales of transformer manufacturers increased, but it is true that we need to gradually reduce our dependence on KEPCO. Therefore, we are planning to participate in overseas exhibitions and provide advanced technology education at the cooperative level so that we can establish a foundation for developing the civilian market or overseas markets.” Chairman Choi said, “It is very difficult for individual companies to develop overseas markets, but if we promote business together as a cooperative, the possibility will increase significantly,” adding, “If we form an export leader group centered on companies with overseas business experience and share know-how, I believe we will be able to achieve results that exceed our expectations.” In addition to developing overseas markets, the cooperative has set goals for this year, including ▲strengthening joint businesses and developing businesses ▲strengthening the organization and revitalizing operations ▲promoting cooperative public relations projects. It plans to strengthen joint businesses by successfully winning orders for KEPCO’s annual unit price volume and implementing joint purchases of insulating oil and bushings that have been promoted for the past several years, and by regularly holding industry meetings to strengthen the organization. Chairman Choi said, “This year, the cooperative will tighten its belt for its member companies while seeking ways to diversify its business,” and added, “I hope that our member companies will also actively participate in cooperative activities.” Reporter Lee Jin-ju (jjlee@electimes.com) Last edited: 2014-03-13 10:37:43 Last written: 2014-03-11 09:28:42
