“Since our founding, our company has faced a major crisis. Due to the foreign exchange crisis in 2007, we had difficulty in obtaining materials, and we reached a point where we had to stop trading with our main supplier, Company Y. At that time, we were grateful to POSCO TMC for providing us with stable materials, and now we would like to express our deepest gratitude once again for helping us expand into overseas markets.”

Elpowertech CEO Choi Seong-kyu, a transformer manufacturing company, expressed his gratitude in his first meeting with the POSCO TMC Joint Growth Support Group. He also talked about the poor state of the domestic transformer market and the difficulties of developing overseas markets.

Accordingly, POSCO TMC, while exploring various cooperation plans, judged that overseas sales of transformers through overseas sales channels for transformer cores were possible and proposed a plan to jointly develop overseas markets to Elpowertech.

First, Elpowertech visited POSCO TMC and held a presentation on the transformer production process and products for production and sales staff, and POSCO TMC promised to supply more competitive materials stably and exchanged opinions on expanding overseas sales.

During this preparatory process, POSCO TMC attracted interest by introducing the advantages and technical excellence of Elpowertech products to overseas buyers in need of transformers through its overseas sales network, and recently received requests for quotations from Turkey, the Philippines, etc.

In particular, in order to expand into the Japanese market, which is Elpowertech’s main target market, it contacted a major inverter manufacturer, and Elpowertech’s overseas sales manager and POSCO TMC’s Japanese marketing manager visited the customer together, and achieved the result of receiving a request for a quotation for inverter transformers at this meeting.

Recently, due to the impact of the Great East Japan Earthquake, Korean transformer companies with excellent quality are emerging as attractive partners for Japanese companies interested in Chinese and Korean companies. It is expected that Elpowertech's technological prowess and POSCOTMC's stable material supply and sales activities through overseas networks will become exemplary cases of POSCO Family's joint growth activities.
