Hosted by the Korean Institute of Electrical and Electronic Material Engineers (Chairman Shin Hoon-gyu) and sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and Busan Metropolitan City, this event was held on the largest scale ever, with approximately 1,600 domestic and international industry, academic and research experts and 54 companies participating. In particular, it is evaluated that the synergy effect with the local industrial ecosystem was enhanced as it was the second time it was held in Busan, which has been designated as a specialized power semiconductor small and medium-sized equipment complex.

During the event, in-depth discussions were held on technology trends and application possibilities in advanced materials fields such as power semiconductors, batteries, and displays, and a total of 812 papers were presented.

Major companies such as IQ Lab, GM Jeco, ESE Engineering, and Power Cube Semi showcased their latest technologies through their exhibition booths, and Samsung Electro-Mechanics held a special session on the topic of ‘Next-generation semiconductor packaging glass substrate technology’, and presentations were given by Professor Min Tae-hong, Professor Park A-young of Seoul City University, Professor Kwon Ji-min of Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology, Professor Jeong Seong-yeop of Korea University, Professor Kim Bong-joong of Hongik University, Professor So Hong-yoon of Hanyang University, and Executive Director Choi Jae-hak of Sunjae Hi-Tech.

On the opening day, the 18th, Director Seo Hee-sun of the Agency for Defense Development’s 5th Technology Research Institute and Director Baek Seung-wook of the National Research Foundation of Korea’s Quantum Research Group each gave special lectures on the topic of ocean detection technology and quantum science applications, heightening the atmosphere of the event.

From the 19th, keynote sessions and invited lectures by new scientists were held, and as side events, the ‘2025 SiC Semiconductor Conference’ and the ‘8th Korea Gallium Oxide Technology Research Association Specialized Academic Workshop’ were held, actively sharing in-depth technology trends in advanced materials fields such as power semiconductors, oxide semiconductors, and high-efficiency packaging. Technology and employment briefing sessions and career sessions for students were also held, strengthening the link between industry, academia, and young talent.

An award ceremony was also held during the event. Kim Kyung-beom, CEO of ESENG, Seo Bong-moo, President of Miko, and Cho Yeon-woo, Senior Researcher at Daehan Electric Wire, received the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award, and Moon Jae-kyung, Senior Researcher at the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, and Lee Jae-hyung, Professor at Sungkyunkwan University, received the ‘Proud Electrical and Electronic Materials Award.’

The Technology Innovation Award went to a total of six people, including Ko Gwang-no, CEO of Dongtan Engineering, Kim Kwon-jae, CEO of IQ Lab, Park Young-doo, Vice President of Dongmi Electric, Oh Won-geun, Managing Director of Elpowertech, Lee Min-woo, Team Leader of Hansol Paper, and Lee Sang-goo, CEO of Iblephotonics.
