Elpowertech, which is considered a leading transformer exporter, is completing its lineup of distribution transformers through a strategy of specialization by factory. The strategy of specializing transformers produced by factory is the first of its kind among domestic transformer companies, and is interpreted as an intention to strengthen quality and production management for overseas exports.

Elpowertech (CEO Choi Seong-gyu) recently established its third factory in Geumdang-ri, Mado-myeon, Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do, and is currently in the process of constructing full-scale facilities. This is an additional large-scale investment following the second factory established in Cheongwon Industrial Complex in December of last year.

Elpowertech plans to construct the first factory in Cheongwon Industrial Complex as a production line dedicated to pad (ground) transformers, the second factory as a production line dedicated to power transformers, and the third factory as a production line dedicated to pole transformers. The first factory is 16,528㎡ (approximately 5,000 pyeong), and the second and third factories are each 9,917㎡ (approximately 3,000 pyeong). The 2nd and 3rd factories, which are currently in partial operation for packaging and shipping, will begin normal operation in January next year.

Among domestic transformer companies, Elpowertech is the first to separate production lines by product and modularize and specialize them by factory. Elpowertech plans to eliminate process inefficiencies and strengthen price and quality competitiveness by specializing distribution transformers by product.

In addition to securing factories, Elpowertech is also expanding production capacity, improving insulation quality, and shortening production periods by newly introducing a winding center and vacuum drying furnace. To enhance export competitiveness, it has also strengthened shock testers and induction withstand voltage testers capable of up to 154 kV.

Choi Seong-kyu, CEO of Elpowertech, is completing the lineup of distribution transformers through a strategy of specialization by factory.

Choi Seong-kyu, CEO of Elpowertech, said, “We are working on completing the distribution transformer lineup by investing a total of about 30 billion won,” and “We are quietly but steadily preparing for the future market.”

Elpowertech is evaluated as a company with strengths in overseas exports among domestic small and medium-sized transformer companies. Exports account for 90% of total orders. Out of the current order backlog of about 200 billion won, 80%, or 160 billion won, worth of transformers, have been ordered in North America alone.

In particular, the company explains that it boasts the largest export volume for power, pole, and ground-type transformers. Thanks to this, sales were at the level of 34.4 billion won last year, but are expected to exceed 100 billion won this year.

CEO Choi said, “This year’s sales are expected to easily surpass 100 billion won,” and “If factories 1, 2, and 3 start operating normally in January next year, sales will be in the 500 billion won range in 5 years.”

Meanwhile, Elpowertech is not sparing any investment in securing human resources and employee welfare in line with its business expansion. Recently, it participated in the ‘LH Rental Housing Small and Medium Business Dormitory Institutional Supply Project’ hosted by Hwaseong City and Hwaseong Industrial Promotion Agency and secured 18 units.

CEO Choi said, “We plan to allocate 18 units in Hwaseong Namyang New Town and use them to stabilize housing for our employees,” and added, “We will devote ourselves to the business for the employment stability and happy lives of our members, while also fulfilling our social responsibility.”
